Runkeeper Pro free in January

Just got an email:

RunKeeper Pro is FREE Through The Month of January!

Hi everyone,

We know that many of you look at the New Year as a good time to get
started with or improve upon your fitness routines. In an effort to
encourage more people to get off the couch, and as a show of
appreciation to the RunKeeper community for your terrific support for
the last two and a half years, we're making the RunKeeper Pro app
(usually $9.99 USD) free to download now through the end of January!

We hope that this helps give you or your friends and loved ones some
extra motivation to get out there and log your miles or kilometers! Now,
what are you waiting for? Go tell your friends now! Enjoy, and wishing
each of you a healthy and prosperous 2011.

go get it! :)

techcrunch: Flickr Should Have Built Instagram. But They Didn’t. Here’s Why.

The problem now is that Yahoo seems much more interested in “sunsetting” services to reduce costs rather than actually building new things once again. And that really, really worries me with regard to Flickr. We’ve heard some unconfirmed whispers of outside parties interested in purchasing the photo-sharing service from Yahoo. Given some of the light Elliot-McCrea just shed on internal workings there, perhaps we can only hope there’s something to those rumors.

iPhoto9 Keyword Manager support update info

quote from bullstorm.se:

2010-12-10

As you know, Keyword Manager is not yet compatible with iPhoto 9 (iLife '11), and we are working on a solution to resolve this issue.

Unfortunately this update has proven to be a bit bigger in terms of Keywording than the previous ones, and therefore we expect this to take some time. This is due to that we need to re-reverse engineer the iPhoto API, and there has been a lot of changes to the parts that we have been using to implement Keyword Manager.

Currently, we have worked through a little more than half of the API calls that we make to iPhoto, but there are still more work to be done and we also need to do quite a lot of testing before we can do a full release.

Thank you for being patient with this update and please forgive us for not updating you guys (our beloved customers!) on this matter in a more timely fashion.

- The Bullstorm Crew

this sounds like the update will not be free. i'm missing the keyword manager lots though

from delicious to zootool - social and visual bookmarking

For those who missed the late night tweets.
Yahoo will be shutting down delicious (and probably flickr, i have to look into that later).

In my eyes, zootool is the only nice alternative. To be honest I am using zootool in first place since months now and i'm happy with it - delicious was only a backup for me.

There is a neat bookmarklet and browser extensions that make saving,
sharing and forwarding bookmarks really easy. You can push your bookmarks with automated screenshots, chosen pics, videos or whatever media to tumblr, facebook etc. Pros can send links in via email also.

You can import your delicious bookmarks, give it a try.

Brightkite Blog » Saying goodbye to check-ins, posts and streams

Starting from 17th December, you can expect to see the check-in/posting and streams functions start to disappear from our apps and sites. These features were the defining element to our company 2 and 3 years ago, but we no longer believe they are sufficiently unique or defining to be our focus, so we are dropping them.

really not happy to read that. i liked brightkite a lot for exactly these features and better privacy options than gowalla and foursquare, never used grouptext though. it's good for companies to focus and move on. but probably i won't move along with them
