that's interesting.
http://www.google.de/trends?q=foursquare,+gowalla,+brightkiteI was surprised to get this info yesterday:
...our Christmas present for this year will be a sneak peek on all the shiny stuff, coming soon to a Zoo near you: http://zootool.com/sneak-peek/
You can use zootool already now to collect things you find on the web. Not only images, but documents, links and videos as well:

Here's a list of other image and visual bookmarking tools:

"For whatever you find interesting, fascinating, or mind-blowing on Flickr, galleries are a way to curate up to 18 public photos or videos of your fellow members into one place around a theme, an idea or just because."

sounds nice, even though i don't understand the "18 items limitation"...
will play around with this soon.
Just a quick test with an old image but I like the app so far. Think in combination with camerabag you can get nice effects. It offers blur, vignette, saturation, contrast, brightness controls for $0.99 atm. Go get it.
reason number #1 I like using @posterous instead of @twitpic: my pictures aren't next to a ugly ad about a guy who lost 300 pounds
